Just this month, BULA held its 10th annual backyard fundraiser – The BULA Cocktail Party. At its founding in 2007, this fundraiser served as the catalyst to BULA’s later success, becoming the pillar of BULA’s funding strategy. Each passing year, it also serves as an opportunity for those committed to BULA’s work to get together and reflect on the years’ accomplishments. Needless to say, it was a remarkable feeling to put on this event for the 10th time.
Just as in years past, the generosity of BULA’s founding community flooded the event. Scores of businesses donated raffle prizes, food, and drink. Whilst enjoying those donated goods and the beautiful evening, guests swayed to the beautiful melodies by local talent, Cassandra House. It was a superb night.
The greatest excitement at the event was over the presence of Henry Lubega. Henry, who was formerly employed by BULA to build a school in 2008, addressed the crowd at the fundraiser showcasing how BULA has influenced his life and the community where he grew up in Uganda. His words left a lasting impression on all those in attendance and especially on the hearts of those who have been with us since the beginning.
We can’t believe yet another cocktail party has come and gone. We are already looking forward to the 11th event next year.
Sending our most sincere thanks to all who supported this event!
